Water 40  ml We put 40 ml of water because the crickets need to drink water. The water started to form on the walls of the box.
Number of crickets 2 We put 2 crickets in the ecodome because we thought that the cricket will not be lonely if there was another cricket with it. The 2 crickets are alive.
Carrots 15 g We put the carrots in the ecodome because the crickets need to eat. The carrots are eaten, but still there are many left.
Soil 9 cm The soil was 9 cm because we think that this height will be perfect for the crickets. The soil had many leaves on it.
Plant 20 g We think the 20 g of plant will fit perfectly in with the crickets. Some plants are dying.

In our ecodome we put in 2 crickets, 60cm of soil, 5 plants, 50ml of water, and 15g of carrots.

Our crickets were alive and so was the ecodome, but we decided to build a new ecodome so we could improve on it.  For this new ecodome, we didn't make any changes from the first attempt, except to put 50 ml of water and 7g of plants.

This are the pictures of our ecodome

Its November 21, and we found out that our 2 crickets were dead. Our crickets lived for 18 days, but we were sad because our 2 crickets died. Here are some things that we want to improve on next time.

  • Put less water in the ecodome because there was too much water
  • There should be less plants in the ecodome because most of them were rotting
  • Put in more soil because the soil was soaked with water
  • Put less carrots in the ecodome because the carrots were rotting

Video for our first ecodome:

Eui Young and I made an ecodome with the box that I brought from home. We first used an A3 paper to design our ecodome. When we were finished, we went outside to find things that were needed in the ecodome. We found carrot slices, plants, and soil. After putting in the carrot slices, plants, and soil in the ecodome, we put in the 2 crickets in with the 40 ml of water.

Our crickets managed to live throughout the week and we were so happy! 😀  The crickets were still active and alive when we looked into the ecodome.
