I officially became an 8th grader about 3 weeks ago. The sad thing is some of my friends are moving away. Also because it is our last year in middle school, everything is getting harder and more challenging. We got more homework and work more then last year. I can tell that my grade 8 life will be really rough and tough. The saddest thing is my friends, the friends that used to be my best friends, friends that i always trust and share are now in different class as mine and we’re not talking to each other anymore. The thing that surprised me a lot since the 1st day until now is next year, I’ll turn to a high school student next year already! Time fly so fast, i still remember my first day that i entered to middle school and next year is my 1st year of high school. Due to that, i had set a goal for myself which is to get a good grade for every single class that i have. I enjoy going to school everyday, but the thing that i like the most is lunch. I get to spend with my friends and have fun at the swings. I laughed everyday, even on my worst day. There’s thousand of things that happened in the 3 first weeks of school that i can sit and talk about it for the whole day. From now until the end of the school year, I know that there’s will be more stuffs going on and happen.

” Tell a lie, play with fire, but don’t complain of the smoke.” I like this quote because it tell us that being honest is the nest way to express ourselves. It also try to tell us that lying is a bad habit to have and once we have make a lie, we’ll continuing with it. I really like the way the author has written this story, sometimes, she used one strong word only to describe something. Her story keep bouncing up and up in the air until the end of the story, and she made the story realistic and not boring for reader to read. I’m not a big fan of reading books, and I’m not really like to read books, but this author had impressed me by her powerful word choice and an attractive story line.

It had been more than 3 weeks after i read this novel, but i still can see Sade’s poor father lock Sade got bullied by Marcia and how much she miss her family in Nigeria and worried about them. “Thousands of miles away from home… from papa, Uncle Tunde, Mama Buki.. Grandma and all the family.. and, most of all, from Mama.. forever ever.” This quote has show how painful she is and how much she miss her family. Even though this quote is not as strong as the other quotes in the story, but this quotes is really meanful and it related to me.

‘ ” I told them that you children would be my best medicine!” papa stoked their heads. ‘ I can see that Sade’s father is really love his daughter and son, and how much they mean to him. I can see how happy when they meet together again. I hear their happy tears dropping down and their father warm voice. I also can feel that the father is really miss his daughter and son, also how much he love them. This story dialogue is really strong, even through there’s not much of dialogue going on, all the characters such as Sade, Femi, their father, their uncle, they’re all speaks the truth. They talk like a really person in real life, they believe in what they’re saying which is also make the reader feel like they are inside the story, really realistic.

Rebecca Rowena Randall was a young, talkative and honest girl. Because her family was too big, and her house was small. So Rebecca had to go to her two aunties’s house in Riverboro. Her aunt Miranda, she always found the mistakes that Rebecca made and scolded at her. Rebecca was very scared of her aunt Miranda and never wanted to get in trouble, she had tried really hard and her best to stay away from getting trouble. Rebecca was a very smart girl, she was an extremely good writer. But because she was never give up so she won the essay competition girl’s prize and graduate from Wareham School.

Rebecca is a dynamic character, because even through she know that she might have not enough money for schooling but she did tried her best in everything. She studied days and nights, and read loads of different books. I had learned that no matter what will happen, just try my best. It was amazing that when the author described how hard she had studied and worked at the same time and always tried her best when thought she’s not sure. At the end, Aunt Miranda has passes away because of illness, but Rebecca has realized that through the pass few years, aunt Miranda scolded her all the time because she wanted Rebecca to be a young lady with a good manner. If I have chance to meet Rebecca, I’ll say that she’s the best. I love to be like her one day, I love the way she balance in life and how she act to everyone so kindly and lovely.

Allie Frinkles was moving to a new house, new school, and new place. In this book, it talked about all the rules that she made it for herself in primary school and events in her new school that she goes to. In school, Allie had made some friend in same class like Eric, Sophie, and Caroline, they were best friends. Also Rosemary, a big, tall, puff girl that don’t like Allie and always wanted to beat her up. The grade 4 teachers usually gave them a spelling bees, which is when all the fourth grade students stay together and have a spelling test competition class to class. Allie was on the top 10, but unlucky she spelled “Doctor” wrong which is even made Rosemary wanted to kill her more. Allie loves cats, her mom was promised her to give her a kitten from Lady Serena Archibald’s litter. Rosemary said that she’ll beat Allie after school, which is really scared Allie out. But Allie was a brave, kind girl so at the party to celebrate her kitten, she invited Rosemary to her house and found out that Rosemary bullied her just because she wanted to have a girl friend to play. So everything went smooth and happily after Allie made friend with Rosemary. The whole problem in this book is that Rosemary don’t like Allie and always find a way to beat her up. But lucky that she had her own rules and because Allie is a smart little girl so at the end, she made friend with Rosemary and enjoyed the rest of her 4th grade. Also the other big issue to Allie was the cat she choice was sick and the cat was pregnant so it might die, so it really effected Allie in school and at home, in the for Spelling Bees, she lost also because she was worried about her little cat and can’t stay concentrated. But lucky that all the kittens were born safely and the mother was safe too.

While i was reading, i always wonder how can Allie get along with Rosemary or will her little cat will stay alive. I had guessed that later, Rosemary will get bullied back by all the girls in 4th grade and get kick out of school. I think the best part in this story is when Allie learned to deal with all the facts that she had to faced and also to control herself. She could just run to the office and tell the teacher that Rosemary was bullying but she didn’t. She tried to get along with the scary girl and be a nice friend. That’s show a good friend and a friend that always think for others.

This story take place in Los Angles. Lenny Samuel is a private detective, his office was very small, they have the inner room and the outer room. He work for people who pay money for him to investigate. Now, he work for Helen Garfield who pay him $50 to find her sister, Elaine Garfield. Lenny went to the Mason Building and The Las Cabanas Club where he got beating up buy the 2 criminal. “It was a modern apartment. Through an open door on my left, I could see the bedroom which is really neat and tidy”, this part is when Lenny walked into Elaine’s house. It was empty.

I had been to Los Angles, and had gone up to an apartment where one of my friend lived. It was also really neat and tidy too. This story is long ago. It had been told by Lenny Samuel after his weird investigation. The setting down affect Lenny is when Lenny went to Benny Greep’s apartment who is Elaine’s boyfriend. But things doesn’t go like what Lenny except, Benny Greep was dead. He got shot on the left hand side and flowing inside the bath tub. Then Lenny called the police and the police arrested him because they thought Lenny is the one who killed Benny Greep. The setting on the story was great! It was right on time and on the right place which is made the story more interesting and mysterious. Like the big fight between Lenny Samuel and the two criminal on the Las Cabanas Bar Club and also how Benny Greep’s death body flowing on the bath tub inside the toilet, filling with blood.

Malcolm is the main character in this story. He is ready for his final year of College examinations but because his family was too loud and noised so he asked his father to move to small quiet town called Benchurch. Malcolm is a quiet guy, and nothing can afraid him. One morning while he walking, he saw an empty house. It was large and old, no on live there for years ago. People in town called it The Judge’s House. They said there were many people moved to that house, but the only thing they received was the death. Long ago, the judge man lived inside the house, he was a cruel man, he has no marcy on any criminals and tons of people died because of his torture. The Judge man used to hanged people head over a white long rope. But because Malcolm doesn’t listen to anyone so after weeks lived there, finally his life ended up like those criminal which his head was over the white rope and hanging, swinging in the middle of the house.

Malcolm is a flat type of character because he has no feeling, just because the wanted the silence for studying and he has to payed for it is his life. From Malcolm, i had learned that don’t be so tough to myself and should listen to everyone suggestion and choice out the best for myself. I don’t want to be like Malcolm, he died in painful and feel regret to himself. If one day i have chances to talk to Malcolm, I’ll tell him that he should change his personality and listen to other people suggestion, not just ignore it and do whatever you like. Maybe other people just want to help you and your life will ended up just like that, die in painful.

“I devoted all my time of to my work. My cheeks grew pale from spending too much time inside, and my body grew thin because I wasn’t eating enough.” It was a sentence that described how hard Frankenstein work for his first experiment. It’s already remind me of my 2009 summer, I was so deep in love with movies so i watched everyday, every single hours, my eyes stuck in the scene, until i realized that it had been 1 month starring my eyes to the laptop so i decided to stop and I found out i lose 3 kg and I’m started to getting sick after that.

I like the way this author written the story because he really showed me what’s going on in the story, not telling me. He gave me the feeling like I was there, right inside the story, right the time that Frankenstein told this story. I felt really want to be like Frankenstein, he’s like genius and he can make his own design. The imagery that the author left in my mind is when Frankenstein chasing the Monster everywhere after the Monster killed all people that he loved. Frankenstein never thinking at to giving up anything. Although he know that chasing the Monster will make nothing change again but he still want to chase the Monster and kill him.

“My teeth started to chatter. My legs felt weak. I leaned on a tree for support and tried to take a deep breathe.” I can see that Frankenstein is out of his power by chasing the monster but he still not quit and keep chasing him. Also i can feel that Frankenstein is in a pain. He’s out of his energy, his body getting weak but he still try to chasing and kill the Monster. Although through is statement, it’s show that the author is very described and he focus on the main topic and slow spread it out, he put his feeling into the story so he make the reader feel realistic.

There is one dialogue when the Monster and Frankenstein talked. Through this conversation between the 2 men, it show that the monster is not a bad guy, he just hate Frankenstein because he brought him to this world with an ugly look and everyone in this world scared of the him. He doesn’t mean to harm Frankenstein. Although he is a monster but the way he talk jut exactly like a human. ” People were shocked and scared. They screamed and ran away at the sight of me. Some even hit me with the sticks and stones because they were afraid. That was nothing i could do except run away and hide.” When i read this part, i can felt his feeling, i can feeling his painful. He used the word that described himself and the people that saw him. He expressed all his feeling through every single words that he said.

Thought this story i think the author want to tell us that we should never give up and be brave. Like this boy in this story, he has lived in the workhouse since he was born but when he growing up, the workhouse doesn’t fed enough for him so he decided to asked the boss for more rice and he ended up the boss kicked him out of the workhouse and moved him the undertaker’s. But he ran away, he ran to London which took him 5 days walking. He walked 5 days and nights to reach London and he did it. That’s where the author show that this boy is a strong boy, he ran away for his freedom and because he never giving up so that’s why he can get to london and find for himself a home to live forever after.

I think this story is really mean-full. After i read this book i started to be like Oliver Twist. He ran away for his freedom and after all the big adventures before he found his truth people, the one who love him and understand him. I also dislike the part when the evil man killed a girl because she’s trying to protect Oliver. And of course, because Oliver Twist is a good, kind and honest boy ever. For the whole journey, he just be his-self and not anyone else. He stayed with the crime and thieves but he’s know he’s not one of them and never will be one of them. I think the author this story did and really great job on showing the mood of the characters because he used all the described words which can make the reader easy to imagine what happen in their head. But mostly in this story, almost all the mood is sad. It was a sad story but there also some crazy and funny parts but not as much as the sad parts.

“It threw me into a state of panic, no doubt because too much nervous anticipation for this very moment.” The author was using a really strong describing word to show the girl feeling. Its like there is nothing that the girl can do in the right moment except panic and nervous, also things like that happened to me a lot. I love the way this author written the story. She was using a 13 years old girl thinking, feeling and seeing to write the story. Almost all the words are easy to understand and it gave me some ideas in how and how to be balance in life too.

I do love to read some more books from this author, she understand what a teenager needs and she alway has a good showing sentences. The important is that all of her books, always have some advices that really helpful for me. The dialogue was incredible. First i thought this book was written for me, i mean like everything in here mostly is something that related me.
