Essential Question 1: If England was so powerful during the colonial period, how come they are not so powerful now?

I don’t think that England is not very powerful now. English is still international language and British economy is one of the strongest in the world. Their HDI is on very high level and their political power is also incredible. They have one of the best GNP/capita and no international debt. Anyway, The Great Britain lost some power, it is no longer “the king of the sea”, not all countries do what British politicians say, they do not control the market, etc. I think they lost some power because the colonies they created (US, Indonesia, China) do not belong to them anymore. Many years ago when England had those colonies they gave them all their resources and raw materials in exchange of ready machines. Now they can’t perform such a useful (for Britain) exchange, so they are not so rich and powerful last few years.

How can we achieve the MDG’s? (Global partnership)

To achieve global partnership we all have to unite like one, like peoples of ancient China did to create the Chinese Empire, like USA did after the Civil War, like Europe did when they created EU. All those countries achieved high development rates and became the world leaders in economy. We must do the same thing. Governments of developed countries should give more tied aid aimed to improve economy of the receiving areas. Also MEDCs can help poor countries by establishing their own temporary government in the LEDCs. That will help to develop industrial and political sides of the poor countries. After this LEDCs will become as developed as MEDCs. That is what I call Global Partnership.

Rules of digital photography

October 15th, 2009

To take a good photo we must follow those rules:

  • The Rule of Simplicity
  • The Rule of Thirds
  • The Rule of Lines
  • The Rule of Balance
  • The Rule of Framing
  • The Rule of Avoiding Mergers

The Rule of Simplicity: the picture must be simple and interesting.

The Rule of Thirds: the center of interest should be near the intersections of the lines.

The Rule of Lines: diagonals and S-lines are more dynamic than straight horizontals and verticals.

The Rule of Balance: the picture should be balanced symmetrically or nonsymmetrically.

The Rule of Framing: frame the center of interest with objects in the foreground.

The Rule of Avoiding Mergers: we shouldn’t cut the center of interest in half by the side of the picture.

Rule of Thirds: you should place the center of interest on an intersection of thirds

Using diagonals: diagonal lines make the picture look dynamic.

Cropping: you have to use landscape mode as well as portrait. Choose angles carefully to show the most interesting details.

Viewpoint: choose your position carefully to make photo look more natural.
