Cyber Bullying- The Futures Bullies
10 12 2009Cyber-Bullying is more than a serious problem. Mostly, cyber-bullying occurs with kids online sending threatening messages or misunderstood messages. These cyber-bullies will send these messages because they want to have fun scaring someone, or that they are not physically strong to actually bully someone, so they do it online where no one can see you! Some people report to the authorities when they get mail such as a ‘death threat’. We can teach at schools how to protect against cyber-bulling, and teach the students to be careful when on the internet.I could make a poster and put it at the entrance of the school, advertising the idea of reporting cyber-bullying. I could also avoid sites that require personal information. They might not need this information, and if we give it to them, they could sell this information, and you might have people cyber-bullying you and you would not know why. There is one story of cyber-bullying where the child sends a death threat to a mother and daughter. The person who sent the threat knew a lot of personal information about this person. The mother immediatly contacted the police, but they didn’t take the situation seriously. So the mother then contacted the WiredSafety organization. The organization was able to track this person down. Even though the mother and daughter were living in the USA, and the sender was in Canada, the same laws applied. The sender promised never to do this again. No legal action was taken.
