This is blog aggregates all of the different posts that have been made on our Wordpress MU system. The excerpts you see originate on one of the 138 blogs currently in use. Each blog is from a grade 6 through 12 ICT student many of whom are using English as their second language. We are currently trying the system out in the hopes of a more widespread use in the next school year.

At SSIS we believe that blogging…

encourages students to talk about writing as a process. It helps them realize that texts are not perfect documents that we learn to spew out. It helps them learn that texts are always in the process of revision. They learn that even after they post their carefully proofread entry, someone will inevitably come along, ask questions, and force the writer to take another look at the work he or she has written. Of course, we all know that it doesn’t take place with every text but, when it does happen, students learn what it really means to write. (K. Glogowski)

This site uses a slightly modified version of the BranfordMagazine theme. It uses a number of different plugins but count on the site-wide tags plugin to aggregate our content. We will be modifying different parts of the site as we ready it for possible school wide use.
