Doomsday Article

In my opinion, no one should say something unpredictable, it will only cause troubles, although doomsday is true, I think it doesn’t really matter, because if doomsday really comes, I will not be afraid about it. Since, everyone will die, not just me, so we should be optimistic and pay attention on every “today”, not to worry about when the world ends.

Why Parents Lie to Let Kids Join Facebook?
by Tse-An on Nov.21, 2011, under Bertoia, Grade 8, ict8, Middle School

Facebook has an age limitation for the people who’s under 13, although Facebook bring up the limitation, some kids still ask their parents to create an “legal” account for them. But it doesn’t mean anything, although the account maker is over 13, but it is still illegal if the user is under 13. The number of illegal user or the people under 13 but uses Facebook reach the number of 7.5 million, that’s a really big number, those children’s parents let them use Facebook, but do they know why Facebook’s company set the age limitation? The main reason to not let the children use Facebook is to protect them, not disclose their personal information to other people, and also not letting them to receive some virus that sent from other people’s computer spontaneously.
To be honest, I was one of the 7.5 millions of people who uses Facebook under 13, so I kind of know why people sign up before they turn into 13. I signed up an account on Facebook when I was 11, and I didn’t write down my real age. Before 13, I just want to use Facebook to chat, and have fun with my friends online because everyone has an account, so I didn’t take it as a big deal. But now, I’m nearly 14, I can probably know why Facebook created the age limitation, they want to protect our personal information, and it’s a good idea! But I don’t think it would work on the people that are under 13 anymore because people will still lie about their age and create their accounts.

ESL Learning Goal
by Tse-An on Nov.10, 2011, under Elshoff, ESL, Middle School
I have a goal for this semester in my ESL class, I want to improve my writing skills. Including my grammar, word choice, and how to make the readers want to read my stories. To achieve my goal, I can read more books and find out how the authors write books. Or I can find help from my friends and teachers, they can help me to edit my writing and check my grammar and give me some feedback.
To achieve my goal, I will need a dictionary, and some books. I can search the words that I don’t know from the dictionary and read more books to know more vocabularies.
When I achieve my goal, I will know I achieved because I can read books faster, I don’t need to stop at the vocabulary and my writing skills will improve too, people would like to read my writings.
A New Medical Technology.
by Tse-An on Nov.09, 2011, under Grade 8, Humanities - Blog Posts, Middle School, Richert
People are developing new technology everyday. And when new technologies are created, our life become more convenient and more handy. This time the researchers created an machine that can read human’s mind, and can know what we want it to do. For me, if a robotic machine can read your mind, it’s pretty amazing. From the users I can see this machine can really read people’s mind and make connection with people.
I think it’s a fabulous technology, except it can read people’s mind, if people are not able to function their arms properly after a car accident,, this robotic arms can help him to do the rehabilitation and the person’s arms will get better. This new technology can bring hardy life to people, but it might be expensive. People cannot afford the machine. So I hope the people who designed this technology can donate some robotic arms for the people who need.
My Second Quarter Goal
by Tse-An on Nov.09, 2011, under Middle School
My goal would be to improve my reading and writing skills. To reach my goal, I think I should read more books ; books can help me know more vocabulary and also know how authors write books. But I can’t just read books, I should choose “good” books. I should ask my teachers to introduce to me some great books.
Now I’m doing a project about about the native Americans’ tribes in Humanities Class. Our group chose a tribe called the Chinook. Our group did pretty well on it and we’d learned a lot from this American tribe. Now we still have some time to edit our project before we perform, we hope we can let everyone in our class know more about Chinook and their culture from our presentation.
I’m working on my part of the presentation, I’m practicing my voice and my tone, and how to make people feel interested while I’m introducing the Chinook.
Sometime our group is struggle with different commons/opinions, we cannot make the agreement on our project. But I think we can fix this problem by list the strengths and weaknesses of our idea and decide whose idea is better for our project.
Now I need some help with my grammar and use more vivid words in my writing, to make the writing more interesting. I think I can find help from my humanities teacher, Mrs.Richert.
I think my behavioral goal for the second quarter would be pay more attention in the class. Sometimes I will keep doing the thing that I’m focusing on but not doing the thing that teachers tell me to do. And if I make this goal, my grades will improve because I will write down the notes teachers say in the class.
7 Billions People On Earth!!!
by Tse-An on Nov.09, 2011, under Humanities - Blog Posts, Richert
October thirty-first, the number of human been to seven billions. Many people gather in India and China. There are so many people in the world, I think people should know that if the number of people keeps gaining, the space is losing too. Comparing to the people in India and the people in Canada, people in India live in crowds, people everywhere. But in Canada, people can have their own space, and not much of noise on the streets.
Too many people also cause a lot of problems. More food, more medical care, more space is needed, and more people would need to take care of the babies. But I found out a way to solve this problem. We can make the lands bigger, but how? Earth has 70% of water, if we change the ocean into lands, some countries wouldn’t be too crowded. Hong Kong international airport was built by this idea, we all know Hong Kong is a really small place, there’s no extra space to build an airport. So the airport was built on an extra land, the land was not natural, it’s an artificial land. So I think people to use the same way to make the lands in the world bigger, to fix the problem for crowded countries.

What does Positive Collaboration Look Like me?
by Tse-An on Oct.31, 2011, under Uncategorized
Positive Collaboration is to work with communicate, work, and fix the problem with your friends or partners. And it’s really hard to do Positive collaboration because it needs everyone that are working with you to pay attention , and know how to communicate with each others. I think it’s a good way to work with your classmates or your partners because when you’re having some questions with a problem, you can learn how to solve it from your partners and also know how does other people do their homework.
I think it sometimes Positive Collaboration look like me because I check answers with my friends after I do my math homework, we discuss what is wrong with the incorrect answers and then fix the problem with the correct way. And also sometime Positive Collaboration doesn’t work between me and my partners because if someone doesn’t pay attention on the work, then the collaboration is not working.
