The Underwater Swimming Game

Instruction:

The coins are being placed into a the middle of the pool under water, which teams will then later collect the coins and put the coins in the team’s basket.  The polo balls are distributed to different groups and groups will need to make sure the team protects the polo ball. The colorful balls will be thrown into the middle which will encourage teams to score points by throwing the colorful ball into other team’s goal. The goals will be located on the two vertical sides of the pool and the horizontal sides above the pool so people can score the balls easier and goalies can take part in place. When the whistle blows, the game will now begin. After the match ends, teams will move to their buckets and count how many coins are in the bucket. The teams will also need to make sure to count up how many points they have scored and needs to make sure if the polo ball is the other team’s ring.

Introduction:

This game contains many specific elements. Such as an invasion game, where teams have to score goals at other teams. It can also be a strategy game, where teams can plan out where to attack and defend. At last, it can be unique game, because it is reinventive and that is it fun -because it contains all these types of elements, and for safety concerns, this game contains some dangerous elements. Such as during the start if the game, teams will rush to the middle and grab coins. But the dangerous part is that everyone has a swimming fin and that the fin can squash people or hit someone on their body. But what’s safe about this game, in my opinion, is how the things are spread out so players can move to any part of the pool. And to answer the last question, are your team active? The answer to that question is it depends. It is because some teams will work collaboratively and some teams will just work as an individual. But also, it depends if the team’s player decides to contribute to the game, but otherwise, the game should be active because you have a lot of things going on.

Rules:

  1. Do not swim until the whistle has blown
  2. Put your coins into your team’s bucket
  3. Do not throw balls at people
  4. Use soft touch balls only to score goals.

Equipment: ( 4 teams)

  • Water Polo Balls
  • Buckets and coins
  • Goals
  • flippers
  • 20 Soft-touch balls
  • 4 Floating rings

This is the video for our game.

Adaptation:

  • You can have a time limit for collecting the coins (1 min)
  • Scoring a goal is 2 points instead of 1 point
  • Give a 2 minute time for counting up all the points, if the 2 minutes time is over and you don’t know how many points you have zero points.
This is the layout diagram for the game.

Geology Blog Post

This is the first part of the process for it to turn into a metamorphic rock. This is a picture of a volcano spewing out magma. As the blue part on the top represents the magma and the rest represents the parts of the volcano.

This is the second part of the process for it to turn into a metamorphic rock. This is a picture of a volcano after it has cooled down for a long time, and after compaction and cementation, it has turned into an igneous rock.

This is the third part of the process for it to turn into a metamorphic rock. This is when the weathering has come and eroded the rocks so now it is mixed with the sediments (the yellow and blue colored legos) which will then turn into a sedimentary rock.

This is the fourth part of the process for it to turn into a metamorphic rock. This is when it has deposited and that the yellow and the blue blocks have been blown away by the wind (which is why the blocks have fallen).

This is the last process to turn into a metamorphic rock. The first picture represents the heat, which heats up the rock, then, with the second picture that represents pressure which is why the blue and yellow blocks are separated and the igneous rock (the white rock) is on the top which is due to the pressure.

Archery Targeting

Today, I am going to reflect on my archery experience. So let’s begin.

Q1: What did I do in archery?

A: First, we strapped on arm guards to prevent the arrows to hit our forearm. Then, we picked up the bow and loaded the bow with an arrow and fired the arrow.

Q2: What is targeting?

A: Targeting is aiming the arrow on an item. For example, for deer hunting, you are targeting on the deer because it is your target.

Q3: How do we stand?

A: We put cones from the right side of the target. Then, we stand from the left aspect of the cones, and your legs are shoulder width apart.

Q4: How do we hold the string?

A: On the nock locator, so that indicates where the arrows to be on the bowstring. Which we then put the bolt through the arrow rest. After that, we grip our hands on the bow grip, and we are ready to shoot.

Q5: What is grouping?

A: Grouping is when you take a picture of what happened at the end of archery.

My analysis:

What I could improve in archery are my stands. I noticed in the video that my feet are not always sideways and on the line. Also, my body is also not standing sideways so it could affect my bow accuracy and how I am holding the bow. And at last, I should pull the bow wider because it could have an impact on my bow accuracy.

My Final Slogan

After a time full of brainstorm, I finally found the perfect one. When I first thought of slogans, I first thought of characteristics, qualities, and why I am trying to promote to the outside world. One of the characteristics is that my product is eco-friendly. It is made out of reused t-shirts to shopping bags or tote bags. So my slogan has something to do with eco-friendly. One of the qualities is my product involves with respecting the environment, so also has to do with something eco-friendly. We are also trying to promote our product is eco-friendly, stylish(applied with tumblr pins), etc. So our final slogan is ‘eco-handy’, since it’s handy to carry and eco-friendly as well!

Gummy Bear Government

Today in social studies, we made different forms of government made of gummy bears. Here are some pictures of me creating the four types of government in ancient Greece and me answering some questions:

This is democracy:

This is monarchy:

This is oligarchy:

This is tyranny:

Question 1: What did you know about these forms of government BEFORE we started this unit?

Answer: For democracy. I knew it was equitable and everyone got their own voice and who to choose for their representative.

Question 2: Why is important to learn about forms of government?

Answer: First, we can debate which type is better, and provide those comments to the people running the government to improve the citizen’s lives. Second, we can know what type of government a person has in the person’s own country.

Question 3: Which form of government is best and why?

Answer: The best type of government, in my opinion, is a democracy. Democracy is equitable and everyone gets their voice. However, in the states, the representatives make the decisions and the people have to choose the right representative to vote for, which is fair because you don’t have to always obey the government’s decisions and instead, the citizens can choose their own!

HowToHummingbird?

For starters, read this section first on how to set up your Hummingbird:

HBird, or commonly known as ‘Hummingbird’, is a type of robot that allows you to do many great things. Like combining the Hummingbird with Scratch to make it ‘move’, ‘turn 15 degrees clockwise’, etc…

But first, you must go to this link. However, you will have to scroll down to click on the right software or format your computer supports. For example, if you are using a Mac, then you choose the one that says ‘Mac’, and vice versa for Windows.

Next, scroll down and you will see the Scratch section. Click on the one that suits your platform.

Click to see view full image.

Then, open an application called ‘BirdBrainRobotServer’, or the one I told you to download earlier…

Later, a screen will pop up like this:

First, we click on Scratch. If you have used this before, you can tell there are some missing blocks. The reason is, is because you have to connect a USB cable to your computer’s USB port. Like what this video tells you:

Now, you can see there are extra purple blocks, which normally isn’t in Scratch. These blocks only appear if you connect it with the USB cable to your computer.

Also, you can drag the blocks onto the ‘workboard’ to create some stuff. If you are not familiar to Scratch, here are some videos to start you up. Click on this link to access it.

Then, this presentation slides will teach you how to complete a project:

Natronification and Sotudies

This picture involves us mummifying vegetables...
This picture involves us mummifying vegetables…

In Social Studies class, after learning about Egyptian’s life, their lifestyle, and their afterlife. Our teacher wanted us to ‘mummify’ food. Like cucumbers, apples, and tomatoes, which we then use mixed baking soda and salt in a zip bag and shook it in the zip bag with the salt and the baking soda. Which when we opened it a week later, it smelled terrible. The apples look rotten, and the cucumbers look flat, and the tomatoes are covered with salt and baking soda.

Also, during Social Studies, one of my favorites was the Minecraft SS project. In the Minecraft SS project, we talked about Ancient Canaan, their lifestyle and other things.

Another one was Kahoot. Kahoot is a company that makes games for us to review stuff. It’s like there is an answer on the screen; then, we click on the right answer box to win points. However, you will need a projector to play the game, and it is really competitive.

The last one was the game ‘Cross and Uncross’. It basically involves critical thinking, logic, and some brainstorming skills. How does the game work? You’ll have to find out!

The Princess Bloggers #1

We read the book A Princess of Mars, and this is what we though of the book…

Our lit circle talked a lot about the plot because we were all keen to hear about what other people’s perspective is about on the book. Like for example, we thought this ‘person’ was not a ‘criminal’, but others though ‘it’ was a criminal. It was quite interesting of how people think of things…

As a result of our discussion, I learned that people need to not get off topic that easily. Also, I need to improve my summarizing because my group members always think I am not ‘juicing it out’.

My targets for next lit circles is not to ‘shine bright’ during the lit circles as much I could; instead, I should let other people talk during the discussion. So they could engage more in the lit circles.
