Personification Prose

Destruction has high standards. He roams around, looking at all the buildings with disgust. He works as a demolition expert. He doesn’t like anything he sees. He loves bowling, especially when he knocks down the pins. He watches movies always supporting the antagonists. Mortal enemies with Construction and Creativity, and he has his own gang of goons, Death and Fear. He dreams of one day destroying all that he dislikes.

When he watches Lord of the Rings, he wants a Ring of Power to take over the world, when he watches Star Wars, he wishes he could conjure lightning and crush buildings, using his hand. When you lend something to him, you can forget about it, because he doesn’t take care of others’ belongings.

Destruction is a beautiful thing. Destroying the old to make way for the new.” He would use as an excuse. Of course, he doesn’t clean up the mess. Creation, Creativity and Construction have to rebuild everything. That is if he doesn’t destroy them first.

Destruction doesn’t destroy simply physical structures. He can worm his way into your mind, and destroy your dreams, hopes and life. He has a sharp tongue, using it to crush others’ souls. Never to ease pain or to be helpful. He lashes out at the most unexpected times, stealing all you have worked for, and leaves you there alone with no one to comfort you. He demands to be respected. And feared.

The iMania Time of the Year

Another apple product? Ahhhhh.

ipad

Its that time of the year. The iPad 3 (most likely) is coming out on the 8th. It seems that as soon as you buy your apple product, its already outdated. 3-4 months ago we had the iOS 5 that came out. Apple will not slow down their rapid churning out of products. After all, that wont be good for business. I think that is excellent however, and that apple works extremely hard for this rapid innovation. I love it though because you don’t have to wait for a EXTREMELY LONG TIME for new features.

To the product. Possibly twice the resolution of the iPad 2. That is whoa. That would also mean incredibly high graphics. However, the game producer will have to quadruple the pixels that the game uses. I would also like to point out however, that games like God of War, could look really good on the iPad 3. That is of course, if the iPad 3 is going to be released. It could end up being a Apple TV set. I would prefer the iPad 3 though.

A cheaper iPad

Some observers say Apple may try to challenge less-expensive tablets on the market. At $199, the Kindle Fire is $300 cheaper than the least-expensive iPad.” Cheaper would be good too. Apple products have overkill prices. Anyways, whatever this product is, I want to see it. I do wonder if they are not going to launch another iPad, but an entirely different product. Like the iMac, iPod, and iPhone, all together on one. Like I said, whatever this new product is, I want to see it.

Self Monitoring

When you self monitor your self, you are looking back at what you do, and try to change it so it is balanced. This is something I am NOT GOOD AT.

If you want to monitor yourself efficiently, you should record things that you do in one day, and move things, expand, and reduce things that need fixing. Like I said, I AM NOT GOOD AT THIS. This is one of the reasons why I end up not being prepared for many subjects. However, if I had recorded and balanced out my schedule, I will probably end up with more homework done, but with more stress, less free time and so on. I

Creative Commons Xtranormal video – What I learnt

I learnt a couple of things while making the video on Xtranormal for the comic project.
I found that allowing people to use your work while still protecting it is a very good idea. Things like share-alike and attribution help to do just that.

COPPA Denied

facebook logo

It has come to attention that many people are breaking the law and denying COPPA. COPPA is Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. It gives face book a age limit for how old you can be when you join, and currently, the age limit is 13. However, children under the age of 13 are also joining, and in many cases, their parents help them. If I could really choose though, it doesn’t really matter to me because either way, you are gonna end up with quite a bit of your private info on the web.

Grade 7. And how I survived.

When I came to this school in the middle of this year, I felt lost. I was in a maze. I didn’t know anyone (or so I thought). To me, it could only be a nightmare. I wanted to stay at home all year long, and not be tormented by the endless masses of homework and detention. Then I met Minh (the Russian). He helped me around, even though he felt like ditching me first, but he helped. We got along quite well. One day, I come around a corner, and I see a familiar face. Someone who I knew for such a long time. From my old school. After that day, I felt more relaxed and controlled (but I was still nervous). I felt more used to the enviroment after a couple of weeks, however, I couldn’t believe they will not supply us with free resources (pencils, folders, etc.) and a free yearbook, we had to buy it. What shame.

Eventually, I had a couple of friends, but some, I despised and ditched. There wasn’t as much homework as I thought, and I never received a detention. I was still quite intimidated by the enviroment and never really felt at home. I survived the year also by not involving myself in pointless conflicts and arguements, knowing which is the better side to be on. Eventually, I was more welcome and the others didn’t treat me as a outsider anymore.

What does Positive Collaboration look like ???

To me, positive collaboration is when you discuss your work with your friends and you manage to learn from your friends and also adopt new strategies that you find your buddies use. It can also mean when other people help other people to achieve a goal. Such can be shown in this example – A person helps his friends hunt, one hunter is good but when you have 2 hunters, everything is more efficient, because they are collaborating, the help each other and because they are helping each other, it becomes positive collaboration.

My Best Science learning experiences for Grade 7

One of my best learning experiences in Grade 7 Science was when we walked around the school, looking at ways to make it greener. Amazingly, there were very many items that could be changed, and things that could be done. Things like turning off lights and air conditioners, maybe even changing the places the windows are in so that at certain times during the day, there can be natural light.

The other is the Grey area investigation, I learnt quite a bit about acids and phosphates, and it was one of the other things that we did that I think made me think and learn a bit more. Many things, I did not know, like nitrates, or even phosphates making too much life in the pond, and it made me think about how it could affect fish.

Samples from the pond

Last but not least, the other learning experience I found memorable was the International Boiling Point challenge. As a group, we were quite disagreeable and argued for much of the time. However, by using my knowledge of gravity and water (quite basic knowledge) we made a water collector based on my design to evaporate, cool, and make a specific area for the water to fall to. Then, we only have to collect it a a specific point. It worked  surprisingly well, and we had our water collected/cost ratio reduced by over 90% (over $600/ml to less than $60/ml!

My best learning experiences in Grade 7 Math

During this year as a Grade 7 student, I have been through many tedious, devious and annoying pieces of homework. I survived. Many boring pieces of homework were simply useless, or boring, or something in between. Some also boring pieces of homework were more useful for life, but in short, to me, it was all a long tedious and boring process.

There were certain pieces of homework or assignments which I found more useful, and maybe even proud of, and some I will keep, to keep my math skills moving, not sitting still. ‘Algebra’ was quite annoying because many of the classes were about pre-algebra, which I have already learnt about, and maybe even mastered.

One of my best learning experiences in math was the Algebra test. Although I did not receive an A, I think I learnt the most this year, from that one test, I learnt how to really do the questions and the order we should do it in, and also if this happens, that happens, that was actually a great learning experience, however, not necessarily fun and exciting.  :)
