Trust

April 25th, 2012 · Comments Off · Uncategorized

Trust is something that we all take for granted yet trust is something that you have to earn. We take it all for granted and don’t think much about it. It’s like each day is given to us and not earned. We think living is something given to us no matter what. Just like trust.  True trust is something that is hard to come by and you have to earn it.

You think that you can just get trust from anyone?  It’s harder than that. Trust is something that you gain.  It grows with time, the time you spend with a person.  How can someone that you just met have trust in you?  Better yet, how can you have trust in them? Would you leave your IPhone and IPod with them? Yet, you would leave it with a family member or close friend.  Since you have spent time with them, they are like you, you have things in common. You can spend time with one another and not get mad.  You understand them and they have gained your trust.

Trust is something that takes a long time, though it might take longer of some people than others. For some reason you trust some people more than others. Its like you have known those people for a long than you have, their like you your family in a way.

The Slums

April 25th, 2012 · Comments Off · Uncategorized

Imagine living in a home made out tin.  Your front yard is a river of trash.  You are not able to afford anything, sometimes not even food.  Each day is a struggle.  You live in the slums.  Imagine losing all that you have in a comfortable home and having to live in the slums.  Many people in India live like this everyday and face the fear of not being able to feed their children.  They go to sleep in fear each night.  These people are born into this life and it is very hard to get out of this lifestyle.  They struggle each day and night and it is a fight for survival.  The slum people have very little education.

In our article, the government asks them to move ten feet away from the road on both sides.  The government came and torn down fifty feet of their  home. The houses were everything for them.  It was the only possession that they could called their home.  Now, what can they do?  They lost everything and have to start new.  About 40,000 slum duelers we kicked from their homes and were left with nothing. You can imagine how mad they would soon become. The threat of eviction still hangs over the people and most likely will never have that treat go away.

Giving Up a Daughter

April 15th, 2012 · Comments Off · Uncategorized

In our article of the week topic was about this girl who was traded to another family because her brother had killed someone in another family. The girl was 8 years old when she was given to the other family and now is 14 and still living with the other family. When Atia “the girl given away”  was 9 years old she was married to a son in the new family, that man had died some time later. Some time after that she was married to his younger brother. She had been beaten and abused with the intention of replacing the murdered family member.”A man must have at least 20 cows, costing 1,000 South Sudanese Pounds each (roughly $335), to win a woman’s hand in marriage. Desperate grooms end up conducting cattle raids to acquire sufficient numbers.”  This is why most of the crime happens to get 20 or more cows to win a girls hand in marriage.  Most of the time it is the ladies who pay the price for it.

I don’t understand why ladies should pay for something that they have not done? If her brother kill the man he should be the one paying for what he did to the family and the man how will he learn what to do, what is right and what is wrong?  Also why is most of South Sudan still using cows as money and only the capital using money? But I think the most important thing is “Why should ladies pay the price for something out of their control?’

If I were in a spot like this I would do anything and everything in my power to tell people what is happening and to make a stand and not put up with what is going on. I would try to get people all around the would to take a stand and to say ” This is wrong and  we should not be letting this happen to other humans.” To me this is just like having slaves and everyone thinks that having slaves is horrible so why should we be letting this happen to them! If we can not stop this I think that there governments should do something about it. But I think that they are not because it is apart of their culture and that they had just came out of a civli war and had just became a country in 2011. This I think is stoping a lot of countries to do something about this and is why it has been going on for so long

The SHOOTING FOR NO REASON

April 11th, 2012 · Comments Off · Uncategorized

“Jerrod was shot and killed after he was stopped by police while driving his uncle’s Cadillac outside a local school. Jerrod did not have a driver’s license. In a split second, he decided to flee police, and his car headed toward the breezeway at the school when the rookie officer opened fire, striking Jerrod and killing him instantly. Eyewitness reports at the scene were mixed. The officer claimed that the car was speeding toward students; others said that there was nobody in the breezeway.” This is a quote from the article that I’m reading. This is a lot like in Travyon’s killing. You would think that this should not be happening again after it happened once before.

To me this was totally uncalled for NO ONE should shoot someone in cold blood like Zimmermann did to Travyon. He had nothing to defend himself and could not do anything to help him but to scream for his life. Even if someone had came out after hearing Travyon’s blood curtailing scream they would most likely think that Travyon was going after Zimmermann, and nothing would happen. This is in some ways is like what happened in the 60′s before the civil rights was put into play, when the KKK would kill African Americans. Its sad that this happened back then, but it is even sadder that this is happening in 2012 after the world had gone through a phase where you were not treated equally if you were African American. I think that people should have learnt a lot from that time and should understand why it was and is wrong.

Now days it is a law that you can not treat anyone unfairly and or unequal because of their race. I would think that this is common sense to everyone but feet it is not. The killing of anyone is wrong and when you bring back racial issues it makes the problem a hole lot different. Zimmermann should be charged for the actions that he did and should not be treated differently than anyone else.

Declaration of Independence Reflection

April 4th, 2012 · Comments Off · Uncategorized

I think that I did a better job on writing down my thoughts than what I do most of the time. I think that I had a good idea on who I was writing for and I think that I did better on this writing piece, I had to change some of my writing so it would flow and make more sense than what it would have if I was writing to myself . I feel that I still need to work on making my words come out the way I want them to. It was very hard for me to get my important details down the way that would make sense to others. This has alway been harder for me to do and I feel like I’m getting better than I was at the beginning of the year. I have to get other people to help we and reread what I had written already.

All of the ideas that I have in my writing piece are things that I would like to change and to happen to our school. Most of them are things that I feel strongly about and I would like to happen. If I was to change what I wrote about I would make my writing piece more detailed any have more emotion in it.

My Declaration of Independence

March 23rd, 2012 · Comments Off · Uncategorized

When in the Course of Human events, it becomes necessary for us to move on, to complete our lives on our own. You must learn to let us be the people that we will and are becoming. As we grow so does our responsibilities. Test and homework, are not the way that we want to live. Every and anything is becoming nothing. This is not how it should be. Our lives are nowhere were they should be.

We are spending way too much time on our school work and we have no time to do the things that we love. We have to choose whether we would like to do sports and not get all of our homework in or go home right away and work for 4 hours straight .Then we have to go study for any test that we have for the week. Somehow almost all of our test are on the same week. Like this week, the week before
Spring Break. Do our homework and study or do what we enjoy and have fun with our friends! This is something that is very hard for us to do. We would like to spend time with our friends, chat or play games on the computer. We have to think about what will happen to us if we don’t do our homework? Will our teachers get mad? Will they make me stay in? Will my parents get mad at me? We don’t have much of a choice because we are forced to do homework by teachers and parents.

Our lives could be a lot better if  we could be on our own. No stress, nothing to make our lives hard. We can make them the way we want them to be, not the way others want us to be. We can live life the way it should be lived. I pledge my uniform, my net book and anything necessary to the cause. This is something that needs to be stopped so it does not happen to any one else.

Personification

Jealousy
Always dreams of other people’s lives, he can never get enough. Never happy with his life . He makes a list of what he want and who. Most people think that he can only take and not give. They think nothing of him. They don’t understand him, they see the need not the power. They would rather lose him than control him. Jealousy short spiky hair, elf like high.

Jealousy is best friends with Anger. Jealousy powers Anger, they can’t be separated. Without one another they are nothing, no power, They wear a red and purple sweatshirt with big gray socks. Be aware Jealousy will take anything he can. He’s the twin of Grief

You better know what you’re doing when you meet Jealousy, look at every word think about every thought. Don’t walk with love for jealousy will steal it at any chance he gets. Listen hard. Don’t give him the chance that I did he’ll take it all.

Habits of Mine

March 8th, 2012 · Comments Off · Uncategorized

Habits of mine are not things that we pay much attention to something that we don’ t look at a lot. On Tuesday I had swimming and that day we needed to a drills for Butterfly. For me Butterfly is one of the easier strokes that there is for me and I’m sure it is one of the harder strokes for other people. I had to keep helping other people get it right, it took a long time to get it right.  Things don’t always come easy to people. Some people find things easier than others but they also find things harder than others.

ESLR Writing

March 7th, 2012 · Comments Off · Uncategorized

SSIS focus on five Expected School Wide Results. The ESLR that I am good at is Balance in Life. But yet there is always something that we can improve on and the ESLR  that I would like to work on is Academic Excellence.

Have balance in your life is important. By have balance in life, can help you in the other ESLRs like Academic Excellence. Balance in Life to me is taking time out in the day to do things that I enjoy. For example, I’ll go out with my friends and if I’m not doing that I’ll be running or biking. To me this, is very important it help me to focus on other things that are not about school and thinking what I can do better.

Exercise is a big part of being balanced. I take time to do the after school sports, such as swimming. I swim about 3 times a week. This helps me relieve the stress in my school life, it helps me keep myself in shape. Swimming also gives me something to improve on and something that I always can do better on. Swimming also helps me focus on what I need and want to do when I get home or for my school work.

Balance in life is very important. In everyone’s life, we all need to go out with our friends and do sports. In many people this helps them to do better in their every day lives.

We all have ESLRs that we would like to improve on.  For me, it is Academic Excellence.  When I succeed in my classes, it make me happy and proud.

I already study for my test but I could improve the amount of time and ways that I study.  If I do that, hopefully, it will help me to improve my grades.  However, studying for test like math is not as easy as studying for a test in science.  I think that I need to make sure I know what we are being tested on.  If I go over the materials until I feel successful and do well on my test or quiz, I will feel good.

I would like to work on time management for my math tests.  I hope if I work on my time management, I will get more work done in the same amount of time. If I can do this I hope that I will do better on all of my tests. By getting to this point I hope that it will also let me get my homework completed with better quality.

Academic Excellence is something that will always be hard for me but you can always make something hard into something fun and I hope that I can do this with school.

Bully

March 4th, 2012 · Comments Off · Uncategorized

I think that the MPAA is wrong. The movie Bully should be seen by every kid in the word. I think that it is very unfair to rate a movie R when it is no were near as bad as the other movie this year that were reed R. “Black Swan” to me can not be compared in any way to “Bully”, Black Swan has killing and very graphic parts in it an if you look at it’s movie trailer and the movie trailer of Bully you could tell the difference between the two movies. Bully in my mind should be played everywhere and at every school in the US and overseas.

The MPAA should let the people that what to see it vote for what they think is fair. Even if they don’t give it a PG 13 the parents of the kids can still show their kids the movie. This is what I think that they should do, they should let the parents go out to the movies and see it and if they think that it is a good movie they should dhow their kids. For the kids who see the movie it can change their lives and change the lives of the people around them and I hope save the lives of many kids and stop bulling.  I hope that this will happen to the movie and that the MPAA will change the rating to PG  13 so kids lives can be saved.
