Hello Pals, Peeps, Ladies and germs!

In my Book club group and other group too! We had to create a project for our book:

1. A Story Mountain  (Using software like prezi, animoto, power point, etc,.)
2. A Book Review  (Using software like prezi, animoto, power point, etc,. And any others we would like to use)

• A story mountain is, showing which part happens this or what happened on that part like introduction,. etc
• A review is telling how did we think about the book in certain ways.

My group read a book called “The fog Mound: Travels of Thelonious” which was part text and part graphic novel. It’s about an adventure of an chipmunk called Thelonious. What my group did is we wanted to make a video for both of them. We did an interview for both. For the story mountain, we had hard time not laughing during the recording but it turned out pretty well, and we think we had done a good job on the review not tempting to laugh? Just watch out, there is some blank interruptions in this video which we don’t know how it happened, but, please enjoy the show!

In my class, we read a book called ‘Where the mountain meets The Moon’, after we finished it, we have to write a poem about what we think this books message or what the Author is trying to tell us. In This story of Where the Mountain meets the Moon, a girl named Minli, her family was very poor. She heard many stories from her father, and one was about the man of the moon who can change fortunes. So, Minli decided to go meet the man of the moon, without her parents permission so she can change her fortune. She met some people on the way when she found out the true meaning of being wealthy. When she got there, she found out that she could only ask 1 question. On the book of fortune, which the old man of the moon was holding said “Thankfulness“. So, she didn’t ask to change her fortune, but to ask/ help about the person who she is most ‘Thankful‘ to.  So, this is my peom:

Sorry for the condition of this description below instead of above. We have just had a math test, and we learnt about unit fraction. Unit fractions are fractions that always has 1 in the numerator and a different number in the denominator. So, we gathered up a project of creating a voice thread of showing how to rename a fraction to a sum of a unit fraction with our partner. We made this voice thread to show people how to use unit fractions or renaming unit fractions. I learnt that, after this test, I became more clear of renaming unit fractions by breaking fractions into chunks. It was easy for me and my partner to write on the white board for steps of renaming fractions and taking pictures of it. What was not easy was when we were recording our voices on, it wouldn’t load as fast and so as we saved it  and the last 2 slides/pics became silent.

This week for word study ( Spelling ), we get to pick a word and create a voice thread for it. Voice thread is a program to record your voice/sound (or music) with pictures. My word was Frigid.

When I was in my Winter Break, I made a pottery in Taiwan, Yingge. My first and Original real hand-made pottery. Yingge is a town of ceramic and pottery. If you drive through, you’ll see the streets are filled with pottery gallery, shops, museum and even stores to create your own pottery(s). The place where I’d been with my younger brother, mother and aunt is called “Old Street.” In Old Street, the grounds are made out of bricks and are filled with shops and stores of different kind. You can buy original plates, traditional bowls and even the olden days cooking pot. You can eat ice cream with a croissant as a cone , sea food restaurants and even many ocarina stores. But the main reason we came here was to create pottery. My mom said it’s time for me to make a real pottery rather than twisting and turning “Let’s create pottery!” on iPad. We arrived in a cramped little store in a small ally on Old street, which not many people was there, or shall I say no one is there except for the owner and other(s). So me and my aunt create potteries, before we started we needed to learn. This ain’t no pottery with just clay and dry hands, it’s creating pottery on a circulating round stuff (or thing) and it’s really wet and muddy. I first decided to create a cup, and my aunt decided to create a shower place for her birds. We used our flat hands to shape the wet clay on the circulating thing. Mine always got wobbly and unbalanced on the top, after we finished, mine did NOT look like a cup at all. It looked like either a vase or a water jug. I decided it’ll be a water jug, to pour water into my drinking cup. Than we had to decorate the outside, we can’t just leave it plain-o-white. I stuck it with 2 fishes on both sides, my aunt did a star, dolphin and patterns for hers. We asked when could we receive our potteries, the owner said 2 weeks later after New Year, but by the end of New Year, I got back to Viet Nam so I didn’t see mine. Few weeks later, my aunt received it and emailed the pictures to my mother. I did liked mine, it did look good, not so bad. The owner fired mine dark blue on the bottom and dark tan on the top. He fired my aunt’s light sky creme blue.  Though still, I can’t wait to see it real with my own eyes and in my own hands!

Do you know what/where is Cat Tien National Park? I’m not sure either, well that’s where I’ll be going to my field trip in 5th grade on March. Let us do some research! Are you excited?I am! This cause of our field trip is for our ecosystem unit. It’s an over-night field trip for 2-nights and 3 days!

We are going to see that what will blow our minds with facinating creatures in the park. Animals such as Birds, Mammals, Crocodile, Fish, Deer, etc,. Basicly some animals that we don’t really see that roams around the streets like , dogs, specificly like Gibbons and Bears (and,  etc,.)

Cat Tien is 278 square miles (which is 71,920 Hectares) that cover up the forest/park, and is located on the lowland-forest-and-swamp area on the southeast of Viet Nam.

In Cat Tien, there are Bamboos, Epiphytes (A type of sphere-like plant on tree), Lianas (A type of tree that makes up the forest), etc,. There are huge number of different type of species of plants in the forest(s).

I  learned that in Cat Tien,  they even have Rhinos! I also found out that they have several species of gecko(s) and Lizards that I’m wanting to see, I really would like to see the “Indochinese tree Agama Calotes mystaceus” which I veiwed on there website.

I am excited to go to Cat Tien and to see the “Indochinese tree Agama Calotes mystaceus” as usual because of it’s beautiful color of blue. And I am also excited to sleep with my friends, in that case, one more thing, on the Cat Tien web, they say we might see a gecko (coloured orange, white and brown) in our room… DON’T PANIC!

I am a Arachnophobia, well part. I will do anything to stay away from big-ugly spiders as I usually do (I hope not black-widow spider!). I can’t even kill a spider myself when it’s in a bath-tub! (Except for Daddy-Long legs) Don’t worry, I’ll get over with it. (and have fun!)

During this trip, I would love to learn why the “Indochinese tree Agama Calotes mystaceus” (As Before) is this color? And what makes it up, it is beautiful indeed. I would also like to learn why/how do Golden-Cheeked Gibbons contact to each other.

Hi Pals and Peeps!

It’s the 100TH day of school! I had 100 days of school in fifth grade from the very first day of school! In my 100TH day of school, I did many things.

I’ve grown in a way other fifth grade students did too, but slight different in personal life. Many of us have grown, but starting from the Brain and knowledge. Between the first and 100TH day of school, I’ve learned many things that installed some new item in my Brain Knowledge. In school, I’ve grown as learning new type of things. Science, is one of them and so as Math . I’ve grown by what I learned in school, and now I think I have a much better and healthier Brain. Well, of course my brain grew but not in a way of ‘ big’. I’ve led my fear of heights to zero fear! From the Buu Long Abseiling field trip.

I’ve also grown in a different way too. I did have a change of height. Starting from the beginning, I was 130 something cm, know I am 143 (I think). I’ve also learned many unusual stuff myself in a way I never thought I would be interested in it. I, as a Human, I think I also have a change of size; foot? My foot is bigger than my mother.(Now I can’t even fit her shoes). I’ve did made some new friends from field trips with students I didn’t know that well. And I am happy to know them, in fact if I never got to know them well I might not even know them at all ! I am glad that we had field trips and groups separate from our class, I got to know some other students a little better too!

As you know, I’ve been working on my Change Agent, Buzz Aldrin. What I noticed about me was now, Buzz Aldrin is my Hero! From the outside, he is just an ordinary man who stepped on moon, on the inside he is a Rocket Hero! Few thing I just found out recently is that he gave Disney some tips of Buzz Lightyear’s space shuttle and one of the MTV Music awards ( VMA “Moon Man” Award) was actually named after Buzz for the inspiration of moon man, how cool is that! And ” 24 astronauts that orbited the moon or landed on its surface, 18 are still living” .Go and check out the FAQ at Buzz Aldrin’s website, and see things that You Always wanted to know! Buzz Aldrin May not be such a world-wide famous person on the outside (Because he doesn’t brag too much about himself), but he did so many things at a blink of an eye that you don’t even know it’s him who did it!
