Working with Blue Dragon and Brainstorming for Technovation

The Blue Dragon SSIS set off as an independent club this second semester and it’s the first Blue Dragon group to ever be established in SSIS. I am very happy to be part of this group and share my leadership. The past few weeks have been getting to know each other and connecting with the Blue Dragon officers. We, as a group, have been thinking of many creative ideas to have fundraisers and to possibly meet the kids in Hanoi. Amidst the busy days to come within this semester, comes the ever fresh hope of being to able to help those who are in need. Technovation on the other hand is a new take on helping the community. I’ve been given the privilege (being a girl, that is) to take part in technovation. It offers a spin, as I stated earlier, in giving benefits to one’s community. Our group at this point, is surveying consumers, and manipulating what app we will be creating to fit their needs. In the hopes of benefitting the community, comes hard work and extra hours to be spent, but we are willing to dedicate our service to those in...

In Your Side of Town {Song release FINALLY!}

Hai! I haven’t blogged in a while and haven’t posted a song in a while either! I am ridiculously busy. That is why I am savouring my weekends and taking the chance to post my music to soundcloud. My song “In Your Side of Town” is actually a song that I wrote out of a flashback, but really more of a thought. I was sitting in my bedroom and all of sudden, a memory just pops in my mind. I have a very loud mind and I have secret convos with my mind sometimes (shhhh don’t tell anyone ;)) So, with the memory in my mind and such a loud thought screaming to be written into a song, I finally did. The flashback that I had was about a friend. There are some memories and this person moved away from the country. We weren’t really close, but I had the sudden curiosity to wonder what’s going on in this person’s life now. I can’t explain the amount of curiosity that I have and decided to ask the question, “What’s happening in your side of town.” I hope you guys enjoy the track and take a listen at this link——–> In Your Side of...

It is amazing to finally be sleeping in late and not worry about being groggy the next morning or having another deadline coming up. Writing music has been quite rare lately. Being able to have garageband on my side has just turned into an advantage, seriously. I have updated mai soundcloud account again and added another music track. BUT NOT THE OFFICIAL AUDIO YET. I will try my hardest to get it done. 🙂 ttyl later!

Dear 7th grader, believe me, 8th grade is not THAT hard

Dear 8th grader, First of all, what I want to put out there is, if an 8th grader tells you that their year was hard. Heh, maybe it is, but it’s up to YOU to change your year. To really put yourself in challenges and to write your own year. It’s almost like writing a book, you have to have a story and a past to talk about. Not just some random 3 years where you didn’t do anything great or challenged yourself. Being an 8th grader is fun and you almost feel that superiority BUT it won’t last long. Honestly, 8th grade went by TOO quickly and you have to make sure to make the best of it. I do offer one thing, if you do something a bit crazy and you end up in the principal’s office, hey, reflect on it, BUT just make sure that you don’t regret it that much. Because mistakes bring you to the right places(or not). You never know. Being an 8th grader myself(though already promoted to high school) there are things that you should regret but sometimes you just have to say YOLO. I don’t mean it in a careless dangerous way. Just make sure to be safe. In 8th grade, there are only 3 tips that I could give. First, do your homework, seriously, it’s going to help you through your classes and you should start preparing for high school by now. Doing your homework will benefit you especially for tests, since it really helps you understand the fundamentals and put those formulas into practice. Second, ask questions. Asking questions isn’t a difficult task and it will surely help you. There is nothing worse than staring at the test paper and regretting not asking a question before. Asking questions will give you more information and will help you have a better understanding of a certain class. Last tip, hold your friends close. Ha! It sounds like some deepq quote blah blah blah but honestly, I learned this in 8th grade. Friends are a MUST HAVE in 8th grade because there will be times. THERE WILL BE TIMES I’M TELLING YOU where you just need to sit with your friends and spill all your problems out. Of course, of course, 8th grade is going to be a breeze. Just remember, it’s your choices that create your whole 8th grade year.   Sincerely, Kaithe (soon to be ex 8th grader)...

Ripped in two…

My heels clicked on the marble floor. I felt out of place. I’m breathing heavily after walking around and looking for the stations. With my fur coat keeping the warmth in, I try to read the stations but my French wasn’t as fluent. “Mademoiselle?” a young french man asks me. I whip around and quickly analyze his face. He had curly hair and he looked as of my age. Early twenties. “Uhm…yes?” I say hesitantly. I can’t trust strangers. “Ah, you’re American,” he says in a french accent, “Need help with finding the stations?” “Uhm…of course…” my heart feels like it’s going to pop out of my chest but I accept the help. “Which station?” he walks up closer to me. I could feel his warmth. But I try not to distract myself, I need to focus on getting to the movie set or I will be kicked out of the scene. It’s my chance to be a great movie star. My last opportunity. “Marseilles,” I say. My breathing starts to slow down and I can feel the nervousness settle. “I’ll take you there,” he gestures to come and I follow him. My Chanel heels are starting to feel like rocks taped to my foot. My dress feels tighter than normal, though I did so much fittings to get the perfect size. As we walk past the busy crowd, I reach for my sunglasses, to cover up my eyes. They won’t recognize me. We keep on walking across rows and rows of stations. By the time we reached the station, I was dizzy and tired. “Mademoiselle, I present to you Marseilles! The station at the least,” he tells me and laughs. I grin, “Merci.” I can only choke out one french word. I glance at my watch, I have an hour left. “I’ll be going on the train now, I have a meeting to go to,” I say carelessly. There must have been something going through my head. “Ah, Mademoiselle, it’s my pleasure. Enjoy your meeting,” he grins and leaves. I wonder if I would ever see him again.   “It’s no help.” I whined pathetically, cursing at my own careless self. I got too consumed with the surroundings and my mind was filled with the man earlier, now I found myself lost in the sea of people again. The only difference was that this time, nobody came to help, am I that desperate? I followed the confusing signs and ended up on a waiting bench, and that was when luck came to me. The young french man came from the crowd and met my eyes, I flinched at the moment. His eyes picked up recognition and started his way towards me. “Do you need help again, Mademoiselle?” he asks with a smile. “Well, I am a maiden in need of help, so yes I do.” I replied with mild sarcasm. “It seems you need to get to the train now, no?” he says. “If you have the time, then please help me again.” I ask pleadingly. “Of course, Mademoiselle.” he replies in a tone that makes my heart beat faster. He took a look at my ticket and walked off. I tried to look for him. My eyes desperately searching the crowd. After an hour of looking, I gave up. I couldn’t find him. I walked to a bench and just sat there, helpless. It’s over. The set probably began and some lucky girl got the movie position. “Mademoiselle?” I look up to find the same man. But this time, with my ticket in his hands. Ripped in...

They do exist [song for raising awareness for child labor]

In this song I take on two perspectives, an average child and a child in child labor. The average child receives education while the other does not. When they say that you must never take anything for granted, you should believe it. But you shouldn’t just believe in the quote and focus on yourself. You have to remember those who are unfortunate and help them up. Especially the children who are not fortunate enough to go to school. We shouldn’t be ranting on about how school makes you miserable, because somewhere in the world, someone, a child, is wishing she/he is in your position right now. I dedicate this song to those in child labor. To those children I send out all my love, and I will do my best to help raise awareness for your cause....

Invisible [Song for raising awareness for child labor]

I am glad to post another song. This time I wrote two songs for raising awareness for child labor. I am still not sure if I am going to use this song in the campaign since I still need to talk to my other group members. In this song I tell a story of two young people.  A girl sold into prostitution and a boy working in a brick factory. At the 2nd verse of the song, I decided to go behind the scenes of the items that we use in our everyday lives, like bricks and clothes. I JUST WARN YOU the song is actually 6 minutes long. I didn’t mean to make it so long =_= I wasn’t even aware of it. But I hope that the song really brings out the problem with child labor. Since we all say that children are the future. If we don’t fix this children we are only denying a beautiful future that it to come. I know that children can’t question authority so they don’t have enough courage to face their masters and fight for their rights. WE are the only ones who can help them up. We have to speak for those who don’t have a voice. Because they are not different from us, they have a beating heart, they are living, and not ghosts. They exist....

Farewell [Another song post

OMG Finally finally I had the time to record the song. I tweeted that I was to post a song on May 21st I believe and I hadn’t. =_= I was very disappointed in myself. 🙁 So basically, this song is really something that I wanted to keep secret until my 8th grade graduation but decided to publish before people start to leave and forget I wrote a song about them. This song is just bidding those who are leaving farewell. I mean they changed something in me, for the better or for the worse, they still made me who I am. SO to all those who are leaving, I really wish you a great journey, and farewell…...
